Cabinet has approved the re-introduction of day-light savings in Fiji from Sunday 29th November at 2am to Sunday 3pm 25th April next year.

This follows their approval on the amendment of the Daylight Saving Act 1998.

As in 1998 and 1999, the time throughout Fiji during daylight saving will be in advance of the standard time by one hour.

Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the re-introduction of daylight saving will benefit the tourism industry as much as it gives time to the people to do other activities.

This will make Fiji similar to other countries such as New Zealand, which enjoy daylight saving for about 6 months every year.
